Dakota Layers Makes Egg Donation to Feeding South Dakota
For the ninth straight year, Dakota Layers teamed up with South Dakota State University Athletics for a feel-good tradition with real impact: donating a dozen eggs to Feeding South Dakota for every free throw made by the SDSU Men's and Women's basketball teams at First Bank and Trust Arena. Thanks to 392 free throws and a bonus pallet added by Dakota Layers to sweeten the deal a grand total of 900 dozen eggs (that’s 10,800 fresh eggs!) are now making their way across the state through Feeding South Dakota's agency partners.
"We sincerely value our partnership with Feeding South Dakota and greatly appreciate all the efforts in ensuring that nutritious food reaches those who need it the most," said Tracy Ramsdell, Marketing Director of Dakota Layers.
Dakota Layers, a family-owned egg farm just outside of Flandreau, has donated more than 5 million eggs to Feeding South Dakota since 2008 — a partnership rooted in shared commitment to local families and farm-fresh nutrition. “We’re so thankful to Dakota Layers for their continued support,” said Lori Dykstra, CEO of Feeding South Dakota. “Eggs are always in high demand, and getting thousands of them right before Easter is just incredible. With Easter around the corner, this donation couldn’t have come at a better time.”
The latest egg delivery rolled into Feeding South Dakota’s Sioux Falls Distribution Center on Tuesday, April 15 — ready to be scrambled, fried, deviled, or baked into something delicious for households across the state.
